To the E.P.R.
General Description
In 2010, some volunteers of the Antwerp Port Diamond Chapter (Antwerp – Belgium) are organizing the
2nd European Posse Ride. This Tour, following the philosophy of other Posse Rides around the world, is thought off as an adventure for all its lucky participants, in which, besides living a great riding experience with more than 100 Harley lovers from all over the globe, we’ll discover a part of Europe – this year the Old Europe, where East meets West – riding our Harleys among sceneries of unparalleled beauty, enjoying the company of very diverse people with a common nexus: The love and passion for Harley-Davidson bikes.
During the 1st EPR, more than 100 Harley riders from more than 21 countries (guess who was the only Spaniard in the group…) rode over 11 countries in 15 days. The ride started out at Paris, and ended at Barcelona, after more than 5.000 kms, of fun & riding , with the group joining the party of the Barcelona Harley Days (a local TV from Barcelona recorded our entrance in Spain. You can watch the clip here). 2010 is the year of the 2nd EPR, and it’s now directly backed up and supported by Harley-Davidson, being the EPR an official event in its activity calendar for the year. The route in 2010 is certainly tempting, and the level of detail and attention with which the EPR crew prepare every journey, normally with the help and support of local HOG Chapters en-route, is a guarantee for the success of the whole Tour. This year’s stages are as follows: Prague (Check Rep) – Vienna (Austria) – Budapest (Hungary) – Lake Balaton (Hungary) – Zagreb (Croatia) – Zadar (Croatia) – Opatja (Croatia) – Lienz (Austria) – Bolzano (Italy) – Florencia (Italy) – Perugia (Italy) – Roma (Italy)
The Tour will last for 15 days, starting on the 3rd of July at Prague, arriving to the final destination, Rome, on the 18th of July. It is a great opportunity to ride in an area mostly unknown for the majority of riders, with the added bonus of doing it in a group, among friends, and on your Harley-Davidson. Doesn’t it sound like the description of Paradise?
I hope not to be the only Spanish of the group again, so that I don’t have to hear too many jokes about how “tough” we are. To try to help my fellow riders from Spain overcaming what probably is the main disadvantage of this year’s route for us- it starts and finishes more than 2.000 kms away from Spain), Spain On Twins is planning to organize a tour to Prague and back home from Rome for all the Spanish riders. It will not be a standard Tour, since some of the services will not be available (like the support vehicle), but I’m sure that by travelling together, he fun will start from the first kilometer.
If you have the chance to be away from home 3 or 4 weeks (depends on where you live) on July, check the European Posse Ride and book your place. It is gonna be a great Ride !!
Daily Itinerary
The Tour will start at Zaragoza (Spain), and will take us to Prague, where the EPR will begin, and once the EPR is over, we’ll do the return trip, from Rome back to Zaragoza.
As of today there is not a pre-programmed tour, and it will be created based on the number and riding style of the participants. Distance from Zaragoza to Prague is roughly 2.000 kms, which can be done in 2, 3, or 4 legs, depending on the riders. The same applies for the return trip from Rome (again, approximatly 2.000 kms away), which can be done in 2 journeys of 1.000 kms, or in 3 or 4 less tiring journeys. There’s even a chance of taking a Ferry leaving from a port close to Rome that comes directly to Barcelona. There are so many variables, options and possibilities, that we prefer to define the tour based on the likes of the participants.
Anyhow, the fastest we could make the tour is 19 days (2 days to get to Prague + 15 days for the EPR + 2 days to come back from Rome). The easier on our bodies we want to make the tour, the longer it will take. To be on the safe side, let’s say that those who want to participate in it, would need to be able to take 4 weeks off on July 2010.
Pricing and Conditions
As we’ve mentioned before, there’s not a budget for this tour yet, and therefore you won’t find a published price for it. There are so many open variables (route, ferry vs road, participants, hotels, nights..) that it’s not possible to estimate a cost for it.
If you are seriously thinking on participating in the European Posse Ride, book early (the EPR is on too many wish lists, and it will surely sold out its 120 available participants), and let us know that you are interested. That way we will try to adapt to your particular needs.
As soon as we have more info, we’ll let you know, but if you are interested, fill in your contact info on the booking form, and we’ll get send you all the available info, with no compromise on your side, directly to your email.
Come ride Europe !!
