F.A.Q.

Discover the roads of Spain on your HarleyQ. What kind of roads will we be driving during the trip?
A. Mainly secondary roads. Those are our all-time favorites, as you get to see more of the real Spain, get in touch with Spaniards, and avoid most of the traffic. We will try to avoid highways as much as we can. Actually, some of our tours have 0 kms on highways…

Q. What bikes are better for this kind of trip?
A. It is very difficult to answer that, since this is a very personal point. As long as it accelerates and brakes, any HD seems OK to us. You can see Lucas’ ride on the video, and he rides the tours and the try-outs whit it. With that we mean that you don’t need an Ultra Classic to take the tour (obviously, if you have one, you will have a lot of fun and arrive to the finish more relaxed and fresher than Lucas…)

Q. Will the group ride together everyday?
A. The idea is to ride together, but I you prefer to go on your own, we will give you all the needed road indications so that you can get home safe. After all, you are on holidays, and you might prefer to go your way. No problem with that for us.

Q. How long will we drive?
A. The average mileage is around 150-180 (roughly 250-300 kms). Obviously that’s an average, so some day we will ride longer, and some days shorter. The longest day is 213 miles (343 kms) , and the shortest is 144 miles (233 kms). If you translate miles into hours, we will ride something in between 5 to 7 hours.

Q. How fast will we drive?
A. If you’ve read the previous question, you might have noticed that we will not be riding at racing speeds. Our maximum speed will be something around 68-75 m/h (110-120 kms/h), but since we will ride mostly on secondary roads, and some are really twisty, you can expect to ride a lot of moments below 44 m/h (70 kms/h).

Great Roads for Harleys at SpainQ. Do I need any specific insurance?
A. Not anything different than what you should have with you all the time, namely a breakage insurance (make sure that repatriation of you and your bike are included !!), and a medical insurance, to cover you in case you get ill or have an accident (hope not !!). A cancellation insurance is also highly recommended, to protect you and your money should anything unpredicted -and covered by the insurance – happen to you before or during the tour.

Q. Do I need to take traveller cheques with me?
A. Not really. You will find numerous ATM machines along our route, and they all accept Visa and all major credit cards. Besides, to cash your traveller cheques you need to go to a bank, and we are supposed to ride on business hours…we are on holidays !!

Q. How much money should I take with me for the tour?
A. As much as you want to spend… Basically you will need money for gas, lunch, snacks, beverages, hotel extras and souvenirs, but you can pay with credit card most of the times.

Q. If I buy some souvenirs along the way, could I place them on the van?
A. Of course you can, but remember that you will have to take them with you back to your country, so be careful with what you buy !!

Q. I like visiting the cities I go through, will I be able to do it?
A. We like it too, so we will try to arrive to our destination at a reasonable time (between 5 and 6 p.m. most of the days), so you can take a walk and get to know our country. Besides that, we will stop along the way if we come across something of particular interest. We will be your ambassadors in Spain, don’t worry about that.

Q. I’ve heard a lot of good thing about the spanish “tapas”, will we have some?
A. Sure we will. Lunch is not reserved (nor included) during the tour, and “tapas” are a great choice for lunch. With “tapas” you can have lunch, but don’t get too full, which ain’t good for riding.

Q. I am a senior rider. Is there any age limit for the trip?
A. Yes. Based on our experience, we don’t accept riders above 105 years old. They tend to ride faster than the rest, and that usually causes problems with the group….

Q.I am riding on my own, but don’t want to be on an individual room. Can I share?
A. No problem. We will try to put you in a room with another fellow rider. Only if no other rider travels alone and wishes to share, you will be charged the single room supplement. We will advise beforehand, so you can decide what to do.

Q. What is the booking procedure?
A. It depends on how early are you booking.
If you are booking earlier than 45 days prior to the start of the tour, you can either pay the full amount of the Tour or pay a 500€ deposit to secure a place on the tour. If you choose to pay the deposit, all due balance should be cleared no later than 45 days prior to the start of the tour.
If your reservation is done less than 45 days prior to the start of the tour, full payment is the only option.

Q. I have already booked a tour, but I have some unexpected problems at home and have to cancel. Can I get my money back?
A. Again, that depends on how lately are you canceling. The cancellation charges are stated on the General Terms and Conditions you agreed to when paying the tour, and are as follows.

Cancellations received more than 60 days prior to departure will be subject to a 300 € per person cancellation fee.

Cancellation received less than 60 days prior to departure will be subject to the following forfeit of tour cost:
CANCELLATIONS

60/45 days cancellation notice: Deposit loss (500€)
45/30 days cancellation notice: 50% of total booking amount
30/15 days cancellation notice: 75% of total booking amount
15 or less days cancellation notice:100% of total booking amount
No show on departure day:100% of total booking amount

If for any reason any participant decides to leave the tour before the end, no refunds can be claimed.

Q. Is there any cancellation insurance available?
A. We are not providing insurance, but it is highly recommended that you take cancellation insurance with any local insurance agent.

Q. What will happen if it rains?
A. Basically, we’ll get wet, and laugh at it.

Q. Should I bring my rain gear with me?
A. It is always recommended to bring your rain gear with you. We have selected dates and places where rain is normally not present, but you can never know. Besides, we are driving through some high mountain passes, and temperatures and conditions can change drastically. Remember that all the luggage will travel on the van, so you will have plenty of space on your bike for your rain gear during the tour.

Q. I love the tour, but I can’t make it on the dates specified. Can you organize a tour for me and my friends on a different date?
A. It would be a pleasure. The only condition is to be more than 10 people. We will organize anything you need and customized it to the last detail. Send us an email with your needs and we’ll get back to you.

Q. I love the idea of riding in Spain, but I don’t want to ride only 1 week. Can you organize something longer for me?
A. No problem at all, as long as you bring 9 riders more with you. Send us an email with your needs and we’ll get back to you.

Q. Spain is a little too far from my country, so I’m thinking about going there by plane. Could you organize a rental bike for me?
A. We don’t rent, but we know people who does, so we can help you with your rental. Send us an email with your needs and we’ll get back to you.

Q. What type of hotels will we be using during the tour?
A. All hotels are 3 or 4 stars with something special. Some of them are “Paradores”, old castles and convents now turned into comfortable hotels with all the features that modern life demands.

Q. If I book a tour with you, could my twins have reddish hair and a nice body?
A. Sorry my (Irish) friend, but I’m afraid that “Big Twins” mean something different for us…obviously you can bring as much of “your” twins as you can. They will be very welcome !!
