The average trip that Spain On Twins® organizes in 2010 is a 1 week tour, starting on Sunday afternoon, and finishing next Saturday morning. We are doing it that way this year following your suggestions, as you told us last year that a 2 weeks’ ride + the time to get to Spain and back home was too much for these ‘troubled’ days. By doing that -- obviously depending on where you live -- most European riders and those coming by plane can leave home by Friday, be at the meeting point by Sunday afternoon, do the tour, and start the ride back home next Saturday early in the morning, arriving home by Monday, on time for work.

During the tour, the group will ride for 150-180 miles per day (250-300 kms) on average, mainly on secondary roads, so as to get deeper into the Spanish culture, and to enjoy the ride on less crowded roads. The group will sleep on 3 or 4 star hotels -- some of them old castles and convents now turned into comfortable hotels -- and have breakfast and dinner together. You will be able to choose wether to ride with the group or on your own, as every morning we’ll give you a detailed road-book that will show you the way to next hotel. Because of that, we have decided that lunch will not be included or even reserved, so as to be able to ride during the day without a fixed schedule, doesn’t matter how big or small the group is. That way, we will stop when the group so decides, and choose a nice place to have lunch, wherever it is. That’s one of the good things about Spain. It’s difficult not to have good food anywhere you go…

The tour will not be a “riding only” trip, but more the “ride and see” type. We will cruise at comfortable speeds, and stop frequently, to take pictures or simply enjoy the scenery and the company. We will try to arrive at our destination at a reasonable time, so as to have enough free time to go sightseeing, chat with the new friends drinking an ice-cold beer, or simply rest at the hotel room before dinner.

Each group is limited to a maximum of 16 bikes, and will have a local Road Captain riding with them that will keep the formation tight, and ensure that everyone rides safe and to the correct spot everyday. The group will also have a support vehicle, closing the group and acting as sweeper, to carry all the luggage, as well as any souvenir you might buy along the trip.
